How Long Does Ejari Take in Dubai? An Honest Breakdown

How fast you can actually get an Ejari in Dubai — same-day, 24–48 hours, or longer — depending on the route, your documents, and the time of day you start. With the five things that slow it down most.

The honest answer is: as fast as your documents are clean. The DLD itself processes Ejari registrations in minutes once a file is submitted. Everything that makes it 'slow' happens before the submission, not during it. Here's what to actually expect by route.

The realistic ranges

  • Dubai REST app (DIY): typically 24–48 hours from submission, assuming no document re-requests.
  • Authorised typing center (in person): same day if you arrive with a clean file; longer if anything needs reshooting.
  • MyEjari on WhatsApp: typically same day once we have your documents in hand.

Notice the common variable: documents in hand. The DLD doesn't slow Ejaris down — gaps in the file do. For the actual checklist of what you need before you start, see our Ejari documents guide.

Five things that slow Ejaris down most

1. Document quality

Glare on a passport photo strip, a cut-off corner on an Emirates ID, a grayscale scan instead of color — any one of these is a 24-hour delay while you reshoot and resubmit. If you can spend 30 seconds taking a clean scan up front, do it.

2. Mismatched names across documents

If the spelling on your trade license differs from your passport (common after a passport renewal), the file usually bounces. Resolving it takes longer than catching it before submission, so it's worth a 30-second cross-check.

3. Tenancy contract not yet renewed

The Ejari is downstream of the tenancy. If the underlying tenancy hasn't been renewed yet, neither can the Ejari. With MyEjari this is something we coordinate up front so the two move in parallel.

4. Time of day you start

Files submitted in the morning typically clear the same day. Files submitted late afternoon may push to the next business day, especially around DLD system maintenance windows. If you have a same-day deadline, message us before noon UAE time.

5. Activity that requires extra approvals

Some activities (regulated services, food, healthcare-adjacent) require additional sign-offs that aren't part of the Ejari itself but block the trade license downstream. The Ejari clears fast; the overall process is gated by the slowest step.

What 'same-day' actually means

When we say same-day on our side, we mean: if your documents land in our WhatsApp by mid-morning UAE time and they're clean, the certificate lands in your inbox by close of business. We don't promise this for the regulator — we promise it for our coordination.

We've done it in under 30 minutes when everything is in order. We've also seen files take three days because a passport spelling didn't match. Both are normal; the difference is preparation.

How to get the fastest possible Ejari

  1. Have all five baseline documents scanned in color, edge to edge, in good light before you message us.
  2. Cross-check that names and trade name spellings match across passport, Emirates ID, and trade license.
  3. Make sure your Emirates ID is current or at least in renewal with a receipt.
  4. Confirm the tenancy is current (or being renewed). If not, we sort that first in parallel.
  5. Message us early in the day if you have a same-day deadline.

Where MyEjari fits

We are the front line — you don't deal with the business centers directly. You message us once, send the documents, and we handle every back-and-forth with the center and the DLD. The certificate comes back to you on WhatsApp. The fewer hops between you and the regulator, the less time the file spends sitting on someone's desk.

Frequently asked questions

Can an Ejari really be issued the same day in Dubai?

Yes — it's the typical case at MyEjari when documents are clean and the file is submitted in working hours. The DLD's Ejari system processes registrations in minutes; the variable is document quality, not the regulator's speed.

What if I need an Ejari today and it's already afternoon?

Message us as early as possible. We can often still hit same-day if your documents are ready. If we can't, we'll tell you immediately and walk you through the next-day plan rather than letting you sit waiting.

Why does the Dubai REST app take 24–48 hours when same-day is possible?

The app submits your file into the same DLD queue, but you're handling document quality and any rejections yourself — and rejection cycles are what stretch the timeline. With MyEjari we pre-vet documents before submission, which is what compresses the turnaround.

Does it take longer for a free zone Ejari?

Not for the Ejari itself — that's a DLD process either way. What sometimes takes longer is the free zone authority's downstream license processing, which is separate from the Ejari.

Is there ever a case where Ejari just can't be issued same-day?

Yes — typically when a document is missing, a name doesn't match, the underlying tenancy contract isn't renewed, or DLD system maintenance is in progress. We flag any of these the moment we see them so you're not surprised.
