Step 1 — Pick a compliant provider

Use a RERA-approved business center that is recognised by the DET for your specific activity. This single decision is what determines whether your renewal flies through or bounces.

Step 2 — Submit your file

• Passport and Emirates ID copies.
• Existing trade license.
• Business activity details.
• Application form for Ejari registration.

Step 3 — Receive your Ejari certificate

When should you start the renewal?

The renewal effectively re-registers your address against a different (RERA-approved) business center. Your trade license number, activity, and trade name don't change.

Common renewal-time mistakes that cost a week

• Letting the Emirates ID expire without starting renewal first — the DLD will reject the file until at least the renewal application is in.
• Discovering the passport spelling differs from the trade license after the file is already submitted. Always cross-check before sending documents.
• Trying to renew an Ejari with no current tenancy contract in place. The Ejari is downstream of the tenancy — sort the tenancy first.
• Using a non-RERA-approved provider in the hope of a shortcut. The certificate will be rejected by the DET when you try to renew.
• Leaving the renewal until the day of expiry. There is no grace from the DLD on document quality — only on calendar timing, and only with fines attached.

What about free zones?

If your trade license is from a free zone authority (DMCC, IFZA, JAFZA, Meydan, etc.) the renewal flow is similar but the office address and Ejari typically have to be inside or aligned with that free zone's rules.
